Poetry Competition: The Way I Wish to See It

Accountable Democracy is pleased to announce the launch of a new monthly competition titled "The Way I Wish to See It," aimed at young writers aged 16 to 27. This contest invites submissions in poetry, prose, and flash fiction.

The winner each month will receive a prize of €150, and the works of the top three finalists will be featured on the Accountable Democracy website and its Substack newsletter.

At the conclusion of the year, Accountable Democracy will compile the works of all monthly finalists into a publication. This anthology will be distributed to major development organizations worldwide and relevant governmental bodies, as applicable, to showcase the perspectives and talents of young writers

The theme of the poem or essay should revolve around politics, international development, and any issue that might be relevant for how younger generations wish to relate themselves to governments and public institutions as well as international development institutions.

Don’t be afraid to be creative. The whole point is to bring fresh vitality and a new perspective to the world of institutions that govern our societies, as well as institutions that vow to make a change. In that sense “the way I wish to see it” should really offer your perspective on how you would wish to interact with your institutions, with your representatives and how you envision a more peaceful, just, and positive world.
